Has The Ipod Made In Car Cd Players Obsolete?

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

So there you were, cruising down the open road with the T-tops out, your hair blowing in the wind and your A-track pumping Led Zeppelin. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Of course it does. My older brother talks about these days. They were known as pre-cassette tape. I was once rummaging through my brother’s ancient collection of A-tracks, and thought to myself, WOW, these look like old Atari games or something. Thank God things got a little more compact.

Soon enough came the cassette tapes, and we all applauded. After all, they were so much more compact and easy to stuff in your glove box. Then by the time the 90’s hit, everyone was interested in CDs. These were a phenomenal innovation at the time. Finally we had a way to play music, without a bunch or rewinding and fast-forwarding. The push of a button on our in car cd players lead to the next track and so on. It was a miracle!

Where do in car cd players stand now? I certainly have one in my vehicle. I still think the disk changer with multiple CDs works fine. However, the classic in car cd players are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Before you know it, they will be deemed obsolete. Just like every other piece of technology on this planet, a new and improved one comes along and boots it out. That is the way the process works. As of now, it is IPods and MP3 players. This compact musical wonders are currently all the rage. And I do not just mean with teenagers.

Kids and adults alike are embracing the IPod craze. Suddenly we have the ability to download up to 15,000 songs onto one small, hand-held device. How can anyone pass this up? If you have not already, make use of one of these in your ride or at the gym. Connect your IPod via a cassette tape and pop it into your dash stereo. Now you can enjoy infinite tunes as if it’s one gigantic CD. Or, purchase an IPod Shuffle and clip the tiny device on your shirt at the gym. Enjoy all the tunes you want, minus the hassle of a bulky Discman.

It’s safe to say that the in car cd players won’t be sticking around for generations to come. Most cars now are coming IPod or MP3 ready. Just plug in your micro music store and you are off. Hey, it beats buying tons of new CDs.

The 2007 Saturn Aura XR Bids for Mid-Size Sedan Segment Supremacy

Sunday, May 13th, 2007

In the automotive industry, innovations and upgrades are constant. For a car to stay on top of its class, it has to be one step ahead of its competitors. It has to have that distinct advantage that will separate it from the rest of its competitors. Car manufacturers should never rest on their laurels to keep up with the fast pace of technology employed on different cars. The different components of a car also plays a major role in its marketing, consumers tend to be choosy in picking the right vehicle for them. They may look over all the car’s components just the same as they would look over all the brake components available at EBC Active Brakes Direct. In line with this, car manufacturers like Saturn have continually improved their lineup evident in the 2007 Saturn Aura XR.

The Aura is a mid-size sedan which shares the same platform used by other GM cars. Other General Motors models which use the same platform as the Aura are the Chevrolet Malibu Maxx and the Pontiac G6. The fact that the Aura shares its platform with these cars only gives the car a solid reputation for having a frame that is tough and of high quality.

What drives the Aura is a 3.6-liter double overhead cam V6 engine. The overall design of the Aura complements the engine which allows the engine to achieve its true potential. The power from the V6 engine gives the Aura a respectable acceleration and top speed. While the car’s big engine may seem like a noisy one, it is actually quiet during normal operation. The engine’s sound only comes to the driver’s attention during acceleration when the engine releases its power. The powerful V6 engine is coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission with a manual mode. The power is transferred to the car’s front wheels.

When it comes to the handling performance of the Aura, it can handle itself quite remarkably on any surface. The car’s steering system is responsive enough to make it one of the best in its class when it comes to handling. It can handle winding roads with ease and the car rides smoothly over most normal road surfaces. The efficiency of the car’s suspension and steering systems combine to give driver and passengers a comfortable ride. The design of the said system also makes the car less prone to rollover thus increasing the safety of the car’s occupants.

The Aura also boasts of technologically advanced features like the remote start feature. It comes in handy during cold weather. With this feature, the user can remotely start the vehicle and wait for it to warm up until the driver is ready to board and drive. The interior of the car is also given much attention. This is evident on the driver-friendly dashboard. Two easily readable large gauges and two equally visible smaller gauges consists the Aura’s instrument panel. The white-on-black letters and numbers on the display make reading the information convenient for the driver. The letters and numbers even look good at night which makes the Aura’s instrument panel a cut above its competition which uses video displays.

With the combined performance and good looks of the car, it will definitely be a serious contender in the mid-size sedan segment. The cool feature, handling and ride stability also makes the car standout. Add to that the V6 engine that is complemented by the overall design of the Aura and you have a sedan that will in time make a mark in the automotive industry.

Forget RingTones For Your Cell Phone - Now Get Ring Tones For Your Car!

Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

We have all been somewhere in public and someone has a cellphone and it rings some outrageous tune and you think please spare us! Well now you can forget RingTones for your Cell Phone; now you can get Ring Tones for your Car! Oh great you say?

Yes, that is what everyone says when I tell them that these Ring Tones hook to their car horn? Oh my God No! Yes, it is true and can you imagine all the funky horns you are going to hear and all the noise pollution from the calmness you must endure?

The company that came up with this contraption is called “HornTones” yah real cute indeed. It seems the owners can download tunes from their MP3 player to their car horn system? Yes, now your car, iPod and home computer can be one? One what? One loud obnoxious rolling disaster.

Apparently this will be a big draw for this years SEMA Show in Las Vegas, as it is sure to be a hit with the car club crowd. The California Company that came up with it is sure to be there and the system only retails for $150.00 so you know all the dealers of electronic toys for cars will soon have these devices on their shelves.

Eventually the company will have a set up to allow additional horns to really play a tune, a symphony on wheels I guess you would call it? What will they think of next? I certainly hope this article is of interest and that is has propelled thought. The goal is simple; to help you in your quest to be the best in 2007. I thank you for reading my many articles on diverse subjects, which interest you.

Thyroid Abnormalities Caused By Milk Products

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

The Center of Disease Control in the United States has recently discovered by different testing, small but significant amounts of perchlorate in products like milk, fruit, and vegetables and even in the drinking water. Perchlorate is a chemical substance used in the space aviation as a rocket fuel. It is found in solid aggregate form and persists in food products for an increased period of time.

According to the latest studies of the Environmental Working Group, about 44 million women divided into pregnant ones and women with thyroid deficiencies are higher exposed to the danger represented by perchlorate chemicals. Also persons with low levels of iodine in their blood could be affected by the substance.

The chemical perchlorate causes a decrease of the secretion and release of thyroidal hormones in the pregnant women’s blood, leading to a disturbance of the fetus development. Perchlorate can cause problems in the evolution of pregnancy because it affects the growth of the fetus; also perchlorate causes later development of the child after birth. Late consequences might be present in the anatomical and functional infant and teenage development as well. Abnormalities in the intellectual field or in the sexual development of the young girls are known.

In spite of the efforts of the Pentagon and the Bureau of National defense that tried to prove perchlorate is harmless for man, recent studies have revealed the contrary. They quote, perchlorate found in the drinking water is actually no threat to the people and especially to women’s health. The newest researches of the Center of Disease Control have proved a serious risk for women caused by the amounts of perchlorate in food and drinks. Studies on abnormal thyroid gland show the high implication of the chemical substance in the variation of thyroid hormones.

Large quantities of perchlorate are manufactured in the United States every year, and the greatest part of it is used by the Minister of Defense as rocket and missile fuel. Smaller amounts of perchlorate are used to make fireworks and road flares. In very small amounts, perchlorate is utilized in the contamination of different fertilizers; this usage is decreasing today, but was higher in the 1900’s.

In a scientific practical study, urine was collected from more than 3000 Americans for lab testing. The results are worrying: Many Americans have in their blood increased quantities of perchlorate, far higher levels than the ones needed to lower the secretion of the thyroid gland.

The Government as well as independent researchers have proved by over 1000 studies made, that the amounts of perchlorate found in food and drinks are extremely dangerous for the public health.

Web Marketing with Search Engine Submissions

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

Most people on the Internet start with a search engine when we’re looking for what we want. Search engine submission should naturally be on your list of to-do’s when it comes to website marketing. You’ll want your website listed in as many search engines as you can. This will extend the reach of your website as far as possible, thus bringing in visitors from every nook and cranny of the net.

Search engine submission doesn’t guarantee that you’ll receive good rankings, though. A search engine submission will let the search engine know where your page is and what it’s about. This is the first step to getting more search engine exposure for your website. To improve your rankings, it might also be a good idea to invest time in the search engine optimization of your individual website pages.

If you’re looking to do search engine submissions yourself, be prepared to spend a bit of time at the computer if you’re doing more than 5-10 submissions. It can be a very time consuming process, and can get old quick. I know submissions may be grueling, but they are too beneficial to your website to ignore. There’s plenty of services online that can help you in this area for a reasonable price and will get the job done quickly. It might be a good idea to check out one of these services, and see if you can benefit from what they offer.

When you combine search engine submissions as well as web site directory submissions, then you will really be helping the link strength of your website. Try to spend your time getting as many links from other places as possible, this is a good way to boost your rankings in search engines. Submissions can also build links when you need them, so you’ll be able to see the positive results from your site quicker than normal.

Search engine submissions will let the search engines know that you’re here, so they can give you the visitors that your website needs.

5 Ways To Positive Attitude In School For Parents

Monday, February 19th, 2007

Children are facing so much stress in school so it is important that both the children and the parent have positive attitude. When both have positive attitude towards education, it will ensure that the children will not have much problems in school and the parent will use a more productive way to help his children. Here are some ways that having a positive attitude will help the children:

1) Praise your child
If parent constantly give good comments and praise their children when they have get certain results through their own effort, the child will feel happier. They will feel more motivated as they will feel that their parent is behind them.

2) Listen more to what your child has to say
It will be better if the parents make more effort to listen to what the child is facing in school on a daily basis. In this way, you will really understand what he goes through everyday. Be creative in the approach so that your child will open more to you.

3) Be a good role model teacher
The most important teacher is the child’s parent. Do get more involve with what your child will be doing and encourage along the way. Focus more on their strength and be patient

4) Be more involved with your child
When parent actually take the effort to show that studying is important not only to the child but also important to the family, they will feel that they are part of the team. They will make more effort.

5) Know when is the time to release and control
This is very important as the parent must know where his or her limits are. If you push too hard or too strict, instead of making your child to be motivated to study, he might slowly show a negative attitude towards study. So it is important to know when is the right time to help your child.

Having a positive relationship with the child will help to ensure that the child will have a positive thinking and attitude towards studying. They will be able to perform better as they will feel more motivated. So having a positive attitude for both the parent and the child is very important.

Use of Electronics in Automobiles Increased Demands for ASIC, ASSP, and FPGAs

Monday, February 19th, 2007

Frost & Sullivan has recently made public their new report on the current status of ASIC, ASSP, and FPGA markets. The report not only states how the industry is faring but also forecasts what will be the trends in the markets and what will be the challenges that it will have to confront.

In the study, the experts analyzed also other factors that affect the industry directly like their end-users. They include also in their studies body and chassis, central command, telematics, power train, engine control, safety and security, and driver relevant information. The main thing that the study shows is that more and more electronics are being used on automobiles which increased the demand for ASIC, ASSP, and FPGAs.

Today’s vehicles are becoming more and more reliant on electronic components. Different systems of a vehicle that are being developed and produced today are equipped with electronic systems which aid the mechanical parts in performing effectively. Fuel injection systems for cars rely on electronic components to provide the engine with the right amount of fuel. Likewise, safety systems also rely heavily on electronic circuits to provide optimum safety to the occupants of a car in the event of a crash. Braking systems also depend on electronic components like the anti-lock braking system (ABS).

The automobile specific integrated circuit (ASIC), application specific standard products (ASSPs), and the field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) markets have been achieving much success, thanks to the needs for the said products in the automotive industry. The increase in the number of consumers means that the demand for the said electronic parts will also rise. Other factors that made the need for electronic parts are government pollution mandates, safety and security regulations, and the oil crisis. The use of electronic components also reduces manufacturing costs since human errors are very much avoided.

In the automotive industry, the introduction of luxury features also increased the need for specialized electronic components. The popularity of hybrid vehicles like the popular Toyota Prius also made the demand increase. Electronic components are needed on hybrid vehicles to facilitate the smooth change of power from engine to electric motor muscle. Other mandatory safety systems also need electronic components. Electronic stability systems rely on electronics to keep the car stable especially while cornering. Suspension systems also depends on electronics as shown by electronically controlled independent suspension systems employed by the latest mass produced vehicles.

Due to the increase in the demand of such, the industry is expected to generate considerable revenues especially in the European region’s market where the industry is doing a very good business. While Europe may be the leading region in terms of production of ASICs, ASSPs, and FPGAs, Asian countries are joining the bandwagon. The region has become the fastest growing segments due to the increasing automobile sales in the said area. Without the aid of electronic components, even high quality parts like brake components from EBC Active Brakes Direct will not perform to the best of their capabilities.

While the industry may be enjoying much success, they still have to come up with more world class electronic design automation software tools to provide better service to their end users. Fierce competition is also expected since there are companies that are already established which will make it hard for smaller enterprises to break into the market and stake their claims in a share in the growing market. The analysts said that there is a possibility that the large and established companies will acquire smaller companies to increase their productivity. Analysts further said that the market for electronic components will grow dramatically as the technology used in cars will likely advance in the future.

188 Stage Hero’s Journey (Monomyth): Four Core Challenge Classes

Monday, January 22nd, 2007

The Hero’s Journey (Monomyth) is the template upon which the vast majority of successful stories and Hollywood blockbusters are based upon. In fact, ALL of the hundreds of Hollywood movies we have deconstructed (see URL below) are based on this 188+ stage template.

Understanding this template is a priority for story or screenwriters. This is the template you must master if you are to succeed in the craft.

[The terminology is most often metaphoric and applies to all successful stories and screenplays, from The Godfather (1972) to Brokeback Mountain (2006) to Annie Hall (1977) to Lord of the Rings (2003) to Drugstore Cowboy (1989) to Thelma and Louise (1991) to Apocaplyse Now (1979)].

THERE IS ONLY ONE STORY

THE HERO’S JOURNEY:

a) Attempts to tap into unconscious expectations the audience has regarding what a story is and how it should be told.

b) Gives the writer more structural elements than simply three or four acts, plot points, mid point and so on.

c) Gives you a tangible process for building and releasing dissonance (establishing and achieving catharses, of which there are usually four).

d) Gives you a universal structural template upon which you can superimpose your situational story. This is why stories such as Alien (1979), Gladiator (2000), Midnight Cowboy (1969), American Beauty (1999), The Graduate (1967) and many others (all deconstructed at the URL below) appear to be different but are all constructed, almost sequence by sequence, in the same way.

and more…

ABRIDGED TIP(S):

*****Communion*****

Unresolved issues are resolved, that is, the regression is resolved (post Trial 3 and the conquest of the Outer Challenge). In Transamerica (2005), Toby leads Bree to Sammy’s Wigwam.

Water. The Communion is often held in a place where water is abundant, a pool, sauna, bog or similar. Water is representative of cleanliness, wiping away the Old Self and Renewal. In Transamerica (2005), Toby tells Bree that she’s not a freak, just a liar, in the pool.

*****The Four Core Challenge categories can be viewed as classes*****

Hero’s often have to resolve Four Core Challenges: the Inner, Outer, Romantic and Greater Antagonism. Each Challenge is made explicit and resolved in a very specific order. Each Core Challenge can be viewed as a class.

In Tootsie (Academy Award Nominee Best Film 1982), Michael’s Romantic Challenge is Julie, his Inner Challenge is represented by his penultimate line “I was a better man with you as a woman than I ever was with a woman as a man…I just gotta learn to do it without the dress…”, his Outer Challenge is Ron [symbol of male condescension] and the Greater Antagonism is his problem that the network and fans thinks he’s really a woman. But within the class of the Inner Challenge is Sandy and within the class of the Romantic Challenge are the attentions of Les and Van Horn.

Are You Ready For The Next Global Depression

Saturday, January 20th, 2007

On February 2 2007 a group of scientist from around the world at a global warming and climate change summit in Paris announced that global warming is in fact happening at an alarming rate and that humans are at least 90% to blame due to emissions from using fossil fuels. They went on to say that a world of change is needed in order to curb global warming. The scientist also says that no matter what we do now, global warming will probably continue for centuries.

The major emitters like the United States, Canada and Great Britton are not in accordance with the Kyoto accord largely due to economics and the environment will continue to get much worse if the governments around the world do not take drastic action and make plans to cut green house gas emissions by as much as 1/3.

Prime minister Steven Harper of Canada has already said that cutting green house gasses by 1/3 is next to impossible and that complying with the Kyoto accord is not possible economically.

China one of the fastest growing economies in the world is being blasted by the international community for not doing enough to curb green house gasses. More gas guzzling automobiles are being introduced in China every day than any other country in the world and the demand for oil in China’s bustling economy is huge.

It is apparent that oil and gas consumption is the core of the problem. We have the technology today to go completely green with electric or hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. There are also ways of producing green electricity to power our homes.

Governments around the world need to act now to save our planet even if it means plunging the global economy into a depression. This is why it is so difficult for government to cut green house gasses. Look at Canada’s economy. We have about a 3% growth rate. But if we take oil producing Alberta out of the equation our growth rate drops to less than 1%.

Oil and gas is fueling our economy and the world. Oil and gas is fueling our global warming woes. We need to make a choice now. Our climate, or our economy.
