Exhibitions, Tradeshows And Events - The Single Most Important Ingredient To Your Success

Monday, November 5th, 2007

There is ONE central idea, one key concept that I want you to understand. If you get this right, your show (exhibition or event) will reward you with customers buying what you have to sell. If you DON\’T get this right, you\’ll be paying a fortune for next to nothing, your competitors will eat you up, and your whole exhibiting experience will be very, very unpleasant.

The one thing that you must do right now long before the show, is to…

Set Objectives!

There are many things that drive success to your show, but none more so than setting objectives. Without objectives you are down and out before you even get in the ring. Yes they may not sound exciting or urgent but believe me they are incredibly important.

The vast majority of exhibitors do not set objectives - they book a show because their competitor does; they don?t know who really goes; they don?t know what image to portray or products to display; they don?t know, don?t know, don?t know!

Paying good money and then turning up at your event without objectives is like going to war without knowing why and of course you\’ll never know if you?ve won or lost!

Objectives are not just about what you want to get out of the exhibition or show, they include how you are going to get the results - for example - How are you going to measure your success? Or how will you follow up leads?

Up to 80% of your competition at any exhibition, trade show, trade fair, conference or event will be what we call ?logistic exhibitors? - not ?strategic exhibitors?.

What?s the difference?

Most exhibitors focus on the logistics of the event (for example, ensuring the stand is bought, that the staff are booked, that the transport is laid on, that the products are ready, that the hotels are booked etc) and making sure they don?t miss that critical deadline.

Strategic exhibitors of course focus on all of the above but realise that there are equally (if not more) important tasks that whilst not seeming urgent right now are absolutely critical to the show?s success; these include setting objectives, how to measure their results and how they will follow up leads to name but a few.

So why aren?t more exhibitors strategic? There are many reasons, but in most cases logistic exhibitors fall into one of two categories:

1. Small Business ? Who don?t have the time, the knowledge, resources or know how. If this is you, then you need to spend time doing all of the above or think very seriously about not attending at all - It could save you a fortune and a very big headache!

2. Big Business ? With fairly typical communication problems. This often develops when the senior management doesn?t communicate what it expects to the organiser (that?s probably you!), who in turn is busy trying to achieve what they think the senior management wants to hear ? the result mixed messages and mixed results. If this is you, then you need to start knocking some heads together or at the very least send an email to tie up the loose ends.

Become a Strategic Exhibitor?

Becoming a strategic exhibitor is easy; you just need to do two things to make it happen. Firstly, with the best will in the world, your show will not become a success just by you reading our e-course ? you must implement the information and make it happen! Secondly, become a strategic exhibitor, stay focused, follow our system and do everything that is required to make your show a success ? not a logistic exhibitor who just does the obvious.

Do not under-estimate these two simple steps - by you doing just these two things will have a serious impact on the success of your show.

Setting Objectives?

Your first question should be ?Why are we going??

If you?re in a business-to-business selling situation then you might think you should be exhibiting and your reasons might be to generate leads, find new customers, or maintain or improve your current customers perceptions of you.

Whilst this is fine in general, you need to get to the very heart of why you (or your organisation) are going and what would ?success? actually look like? What would have to happen that would make the event a great one?

By sitting down early and getting these objectives on paper now, will ensure that you (and your colleagues) follow a course to exhibiting success.

How? Simple; keep your objectives continually in the forefront of your mind ? every time you make a decision think objectives - the end result will be nothing short of a roaring success

Do Your Customers Have To Ask You To Market Your Business?

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

I know, I know…

Huh?

Please allow me to explain, because this is an instant profit generator for your business.

I mean it.

If you own a business that offers multiple products or services to your market…how do your customers find out the ways that your business can benefit their lives?

Do they have to actually ask you? I mean, is it their fault if they don\’t do enough research and find out from other sources what you have to offer?

Nope, it isn\’t their fault…it\’s your fault…and your responsibility to educate your customers how your business can benefit their lives.

"But Joe, I have a website/brochure that does all of that. Man, your a moron…telling me that I have to educate my customers on all of the services/products that I offer. Plus, they never ask me what I offer, so I assume they don\’t want to know." When a business owner replies this way…I naturally challenge them:

"Ok, Mrs. Business Owner, so what you are saying is it is your customers responsibility to use your brochures and websites etc… to educate themselves on your business and its offerings? What if they don\’t understand everything you offer? What if they don\’t want to read your website or brochure to find out how about every way you can help them?" "Mrs. Business Owner, how are you going to get your message across?"

Let\’s expand on this a little…using an example from a consultants business. * A client hires a marketing consultant to execute the marketing for their business.

* During the process, they uncover that the client\’s business lacks a system of marketing to their existing customer database. This requires that copy be written for the mailers to go out to that database. Well, the consultant should be able to tell you that client will pay fees to write that copy on top of the fees for executing the database marketing effort.

Why?

Because in the beginning of any relationship that consultant builds with their clients…They should educate them on the value of copywriting as part of their marketing process…then inform them that they offer that as well. This consulting relationship just had some value - added…because the consultant ensured that their clients are aware of, and educate them on the value of, every one of the services that the consultant provides.

And this can happen for you too. You cannot trust that your website, brochure, or other marketing collateral will do this all - important task. If you have sales staff, they need to be trained properly in offering and educating your clients on your entire menu of services or products that you provide and offer these to your new and existing customers. If you have not done this very well up to this point…this is an instant source of cash flow for your business.

As a bonus tip for today…

Go to your existing customer database if you have one. Start the process of educating and marketing all of your services or products to them, one at a time. Cha Ching :)

How do you market these extra offerings to your customer base?

That is for the next post.

Using Auto Responders and Squeeze Pages

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

Squeeze Pages

Usually when potential business associated meet they shake hands, exchange business cards and discuss their businesses. On the internet, however, it is very different. Potential customers can view your website and all your contact information without even meeting you. This is where you may want to use a squeeze page.

When someone views your squeeze page it prompts them to leave their contact information behind. If this is not done you may end up losing a lot of profitable business relationships because you do not know the prospects name or know how to contact them. In order to develop that one on one relationship with a prospect a squeeze page is a great solution.

In order to get people to leave their information, so you can get to know them, you should offer something of interest. A free e-book is a good choice to offer as a gift for leaving their contact details. People want to know that they are getting something in return for leaving their names and email addresses.

There should not be any out going links on your squeeze page. If you do have any, they should be in smaller print at the bottom of the page. Entering contact information should be the only thing a prospect can do on your squeeze page. Putting banners, pay per clicks or pop ups on the page should be avoided. Provide enough information to peek the interest of the prospect and offer a free e-book download.

Auto Responders

Most auto responder services come with an option to design an opt in form so that makes it a lot easier to make one. Make the submit button compelling enough to get the customer to act. You can change it when designing the form.

In order to create your opt in form for your auto responder follow the directions or video tutorials provided by your auto responder service. After you have created the form add it to your website so that you can begin building a list. Some people may prefer to sign up using email. In that case have an option for them to send a blank email to a certain email address. As the saying goes, the power is in the list, so have a couple options available in order to get as many subscribers as possible.

An opt in form is a great addition for any website. You can offer a newsletter or e-course if the prospect provides their information. Set up the auto responder with information, articles and freebies to be sent out at regular intervals. As long as the prospect stays subscribed you can offer them anything you want without being accused of spam, just make sure there is an unsubscribe link at the bottom of each e-mail.

Retire Young Retire Rich - Build an Investment Banking Career

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

Is it really possible to retire young and retire rich? Yes, of course. But it is not a matter of luck. It is all in your hands. You need to work hard towards it. There are couple of things that you can do. Pick the right career that pays you well, or make the right investment. You can even combine both and make yourself an investment banker. “When you?re helping people make money, they don?t really care how old you are.” Said Trader Daily.

Many investment bankers retire at their 30?s. I am a headhunter and have been recruiting very senior investment bankers over the past eight years. I?ve witnessed many bankers retire before 40. Consider the firm they work for, the title they hold and the money they make, everyone will admire them. Why these bankers choose to go skiing, visit penguins at the South Pole or even return to school?

There are two major reasons. They either can?t put up with their stressful investment banking jobs or they?ve made enough money to maintain their desired living standard for the rest of their life. A lot of them return to work after a two-year sabbatical, only because they are workaholics.

If you are aiming at retire young and retire rich, you have to start planning while you are still at college. Get some insights from my investment banking resumes blog.

When to start an investment banking career?

Many of my outstanding candidates? first jobs were actually where they had their internships. Therefore you need to plan your investment banking career when you are studying for your undergraduate. Aim for an internship at a reputable bank. Make it a goal for your resume to be on the radar screens of every Wall Street recruiting director by December holidays.

How can I tell that an investment banking career is ideal for me?

The best is to do informational interviews.

What exactly is an informational interview?

An informational interview is a highly focused information gathering session with a networking contact designed to help you choose or refine your career path by giving you the ?insider” point of view.

If you are planning to start an investment banking career, read my blog and learn more about setting up informational interviews.

Anna Maria D\’Souza is a headhunter. In the past eight years, she has been recruiting senior investment bankers for bulge brackets. Read her blog of Investment Banking Resumes which she aims to help college graduates to build an investment banking career.

How Small Businesses Can Offer Big Benefits

Friday, October 19th, 2007

Small businesses are finding it increasingly difficult to offer a high quality, affordable employee benefits program to their employees.

But, if you are a small business owner or are in charge of the employee benefits program at a small business, do not worry. There are options available for you.

Over the past few years, more insurance carriers are offering more benefit options for the small business employer. These benefits are designed to accompany any “core” benefit plan options and will enable a small business to offer a complete benefits program to all of their employees.

By offering a basic “core benefit” offering which could include health and dental insurance coverage and combining it other supplemental or voluntary benefits, the employer can offer a competitive benefits program without breaking the bank. These benefits may have an employer contribution to assist in the cost of the benefit or they may be offered as an employee paid benefit only through payroll deduction or a combination on the two.

Some of the supplemental or voluntary benefit plan offerings include short and long term disability, life insurance, accident coverage, limited medical plan, dental and long term care insurance to name just a few.

The advantage for the small business is they maintain complete flexibility when it comes to the cost of the plan and how the cost will be divided. The advantage for the employee is they are allowed to pick and choose their own insurance/benefits program and pay only for the coverages they need. This creates a benefit program that is affordable to both the employer and the employee and allows both to stay within their respective budgets.

Some of the main features of supplemental or voluntary insurance plans is the small business receives simplified underwriting, a group rate to decrease costs and control in some plan designs features. The small business needs just two employees to qualify for this type of coverage.

These benefits can also be used for part time employees. As a small business continues to grow, the business can have an advantage when it enters into a growth phase and starts hiring part time employees which may turn into a full time employee. These employees can have a complete benefit program that can be carried over with them when they move into a full time position.

As keeping and attracting good quality employees becomes more and more difficult, offering a benefits program that includes voluntary, payroll deduct benefits can help employers retain and attract good quality employees at an affordable price.

Rick Guetzkow has been a benefits broker and consultant for the past 15 years. He specializes in creating employee benefit programs that are easy to offer, administer and enroll.

How To Choose A Reliable Web Hosting Company : A Tip For Newbies

Friday, October 19th, 2007

Reliable web hosting is vital for anyone attempting to earn money with a business website.

Choosing a host for your website is not easy when you are an Internet newbie and don’t really know bandwidth from Band-Aid. What selection criteria do you use? If you are a total newbie, about the only thing you will know how to compare is price but if you do a search for web hosting you will have ads coming at you for all prices from $10 per year to $25 per month. Should you go for the most expensive on the basis that you get what you pay for or should you go for the cheapest because saving money is a priority while you are getting your business running?

The first thing to rule out is free web hosting. There are many great free resources to be found on the Internet including excellent anti-virus and anti-spy ware software. Free hosting is fine if you have a hobby website but, if you are running a business online and wish to achieve credibility with visitors and search engines, free web hosting won’t do the job.

I discovered the hard way that cheap web hosting is not necessarily the bargain it might seem. When I started looking for hosting for a new website, I already had top class hosting that had come with my first website. There was an option to add on further domains for an extra $5 per month. That was cheap enough but I thought it would be a good idea to have my new website hosted completely separately (you know, the old eggs in one basket caution).

When I started checking around, there seemed to be millions of web hosts all offering what (to my untrained eye) seemed to be the same thing but at wildly varying prices, so I settled on a cheap hosting package. The cost was £1 per month (which was about $1.70 in those days) and I certainly got what I paid for!

At first everything was fine: I paid up, they hosted my website. The trouble is, you don’t realise you have bought rubbish hosting until things start to go wrong.

The first sign that all was not well came a few months later when I was unable to locate my website. I raised a support ticket and waited. Four days later came the reply “everything seems ok now”. Four days of downtime without a sensible word from support made me feel more than a little uneasy.

Things seemed fine for a while after that but then another problem arose: when I tried to log into my control panel all I got was a message telling me the licence fee had not been paid. This time the reply to my support ticket was quicker, it only took two days. Unfortunately, however, it was completely unhelpful. The reply was “It seems to be a site-wide issue”. Was I supposed to feel better because the whole site was messed up and not just my bit? They must have got round to paying the licence fee because after a few more days, login was available again.

After that, I wanted to move to a new host but I had never moved a website before and assumed it would be really difficult and technically challenging (actually it is extremely simple). As a result of this fear my website remained where it was.

The crunch came when my domain name came up for renewal. In response to an email from the hosting company, I visited their website to make the required payment. Their PayPal link and credit card options did not work and there were several error messages showing on the pages I visited.

Emails to their support and billing departments went unanswered. My only means of arranging payment was via their website, so I kept trying. Each time I visited, there were more error messages, nothing worked and it began to look as if the site was actually melting bit by bit. It seemed the company had just packed up and left their website to self destruct.

Enquiries revealed that the only way I could renew my domain name ownership was through the hosting company because they had registered it on my behalf and they retained control of it. As they could not be contacted, there were only two options available. The first was to pay an agent a pretty hefty (and non-refundable) fee to try to contact the hosting company and negotiate the purchase the domain name from them. The second option was to lose the domain.

When you have to choose web hosting, the first thing to look for is quality of support. To keep prices low, the easiest way for the company to economise is to provide sub-standard support. Forget the offers of unlimited bandwidth, hundreds of email accounts, spam filters and other freebies. If support is non-existent, give the company a miss no matter how good their other terms might seem.

Anti Virus Software Download - Keep Your PC Safe With Multiple Programs

Friday, October 19th, 2007

It’s fairly safe to say these days that most of us, (around 80%) have bought a well-known antivirus package. Personally, I favour Norton but McAfee, AVG and a few others dominate the antivirus and spyware market. There is of course a good reason for this.

Popularity is the main reason. When you buy a computer the chances are you would buy it from a high street computer shop, a well-known internet name such as Dell, or on the strength of a recommendation. You would be very cautious about handing over your hard-earned cash to a company you have never heard of, and rightly so. The same applies to an antivirus software download. Most of us would much rather spend our money on one of the big names mentioned above, (even if they are more expensive) because we know that we will be getting a high level of protection from a brand we can trust. The only time we are likely to deviate from this is if we are offered a free antivirus program / trial or if someone we trust recommends different antivirus software downloads. What most people don’t realise, (also around 80%) is that we shouldn’t rely solely on these programs. Why?

Once we buy and install this antivirus software we let it run and forget about it. We assume we are safe and fully protected because we bought the best there is. To a point this is true. I would always recommend buying your main antivirus package from a recognised brand. Personally I use Norton Internet Security. It not only protects against viruses but it comes with automatic updates, checks my emails for viruses and spyware, and even comes with Norton GO-Back which is a more advanced version of Microsoft’s, “System Restore”. This is all wonderful stuff but there is one problem. Something that affects every one of these big brands of software.

If you are familiar with computers you may have heard that using an alternative operating system or internet browser such as firefox is safer. The reason for this is that Creators of Viruses, Trojans, Spyware, Worms and all the other types of malicious bugs are very clever. They know that almost everyone uses Internet Explorer. They also know that 80% of people use one of 5-6 big software brands.

When the viruses is created it is usually intended to reach as many computers as possible. Therefore it is only logical that the first targets to overcome are the big named brands. If the virus get get past this antivirus software undetected then it stands a very good chance of infecting thousands of machines. Now this is where the problem lies. Norton, McAfee and other big names are always the first target. There is nothing they can do about this other than to be as prepared as possible.

This is where the consumer needs to get wise. As stated above I would always recommend owning one of the recognised antivirus software packages as your first line of defence. But if this was all there was to it, then nobody would ever get a Virus on their machine. We know for a fact that thousands, (maybe more) still get infected everyday. so how do we prevent this?

The answer is very simple and inexpensive. There are hundreds of lesser known antivirus downloads available on the market. These are not frequently targeted by the creators of viruses because there is less opportunity for their virus to spread. Many of these programs will run quite happily alongside your main software, or you can just use them to run a scan periodically.

So, to ensure you are as fully protected as possible here is what you should do. First, buy or keep your current recognised ‘big brand’ software. This is a vital step that should not be missed (the smaller cheaper antivirus downloads are unlikely to provide adequate cover on their own). Secondly, buy a lesser known spyware scanner and remover. Thirdly, Also buy a lesser known adware stopper. It is important to note that there is no need to spend vast sums of money here. You can very easily purchase both of these products for far less than half of the cost of Norton, or McAfee.

This may sound like a time-consuming effort, but once it is installed you can simply set it to run once a week and forget about it just like your current software. By buying separate programs like this you maximise your chances of spotting anything untoward on your PC. For the sake of a few $$ you could potentially save the security of your bank account or credit card details. Don’t delay in taking action!

Coin Shops - How to Deal With Them

Friday, October 19th, 2007

Thank you for being interested in our work. We hope to be of service with the following guidelines.

For coin collectors, Coins are for the most part very interesting items to collect. It is also one of the best ways to understand the various conditions or events in history that resulted in the coins being minted. You can buy coins in Auctions, on the internet even other collectors, but the best way to get good quality coins in which to begin your coin collection is with coin shops.

I am not saying the auction or the internet is not a good place to buy coins for your collection. But Coin shops will have people who are well-educated about coins. They also have a plenty of different coins that can be sold. But most of all the people buying and selling coins are also collecting themselves which means you will find a person who shares your interest in coins.

Another advantage of coin shops is that the dealers can see what your collection is like. But like I stated in other articles coin appraisals are different from shop to shop. Many factors are responsible for that, but most of all it is due to the coin grading knowledge of the dealer. As in every industry you will find honest coin shops and dishonest ones, it is always recommended to look for a coin shops with a good reputation.

When you go to the coin shops in your area keep in mind the type of coins you are collecting. As you may like to add more civil war or colonial time coins to your collection, look for coin shops that sell and purchase these types of coins.

Some coin shops buys, sell and deals with coins of a certain metal. They can help you locate dealers or coin collectors who will be able to sell you coins made of gold, silver and platinum.

Like I wrote earlier you will also find coin shops on the internet, while they make your life easier in a way, choosing the coins you want from the comfort of your home, keep in mind that you will have no way at looking at the coin and see if you want them in your collection.

Paying big money for low value coins is not the way you want to go. From time to time you may fall victim to coin shops that have very little experience in selling coins. Try to avoid those shops as they will be emptying your pockets.

Look at things like:

- Are they reputable

- Do they have good experience in purchasing and selling coins

- Do they sell the type of coins you intend to collect

- Can they help you locate dealers that will sell you any type of coins you like

- But most of all look carefully at the shop reputation before making any buying decision.

Finally, I’d like to thank you for reading this article and I hope it was helpful information.

Happy collecting!

Someone Special for Everyone

Friday, October 19th, 2007

Before, all I could think about was finding the right person. Someone to was always there for me. Someone I could wake up to every morning, looking my worst. And he would just stare into my eyes, and tell me how beautiful I was. I wanted a prince straight from a fairytale. I just thought that when you found that person, everything would be absolutely perfect. I realized that no one’s perfect and that love isn’t just some feeling you get whenever you want. It’s a feeling that can’t even be described with words.

When I started high school, I had plenty of boyfriends. And I wanted to find that “someone” so bad that I thought every single one of them was the one. I built up some fantasy and only heard what I wanted to hear. A guy could be sitting there, telling me how much he hates my and never wants to see me again. But all I’ll hear, is how much he loves me and wants to be together forever. I’ve thought a million times that I was in love. But what is love? Do I know? Does anyone know? Some people do, but many just think they do. But how can we be sure?

Love is thrown around so much, it barely has meaning anymore. I stopped believing in it a long time ago. I’m sure everyone has at on point. They say love will find you when you when you least expect it. Well, I guess my problem was, I always expected it. But then one day, I found someone. Someone I had always had, just never opened my eyes to see it. Of course we’ve had a few rough patches, but overall, it’s the most amazing and most incredible feeling I’ve ever experienced. I never thought it was possible to make someone feel like this. To me, it was just dream. A dream, that no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t reach. But now that I have, I’ve realized something. I’ve realized that, there is someone special out there for everyone. And if you just wait, they will come. But you cant just assume that it’s going to be easy because it will take a little work. But in the long run, it’ll all be worth it.

Thank you.
Megan
