Overcoming Addiction - It’s As Difficult As You Think It Is

As a person who smoked a pack of cigarettes and choked down an average of twelve beers a day for more than 15 years, I think I may know a little something about addiction. Not only addiction, but overcoming addiction, because I walked away from both practices without the aid of gum, patches, meetings, or counselors. I’m not implying that there’s something wrong with getting help, I’m simply saying that for me the traditional kinds of help weren’t necessary. Whatever works to help individuals overcome addiction is a good thing, no matter what form it takes. My (Read more)

Gardening for Wildlife - Biological Warfare for at Home and in the Gardens

It’s that time of year for the biting flies, skeeters and other insects. I discovered last year that a mixture of rubbing alcohol and pure mint oil keeps these pests at bay. I mixed 2 ounces of pure mint (from a health food store) with 14 ounces of rubbing alcohol. I was using this to spray for wasps, but discovered when I rubbed it on me, that all other biting insects stayed away too. It works well for me. I smell good and no harsh chemicals found in other sprays. The alcohol evaporates to nothing and the mint stays. Increase the formula to 25% mint and this kills off wasps in the (Read more)
