Saving Fat People From Themselves; A Worthy Mission

Monday, February 28th, 2005

As the Founder of the Online Think Tank, I have the chance to meet wonderful people in many countries, both on and offline. One individual I have recently made the acquaintance of is a nutritionist who wants people to eat right, stop eating the wrong foods and lose weight so that they can live healthy, happy and productive lives.

Of course, many people will never eat right and go out of their way to buy the wrong type of foods and stay on the wrong diets. That is unfortunate indeed. Just a few days ago, I met another individual and this young lady asked me why I was running the Online Think Tank and what I hoped to gain? Well, I am here to change the world, I exclaimed.

Well fascinated by this answer she asked; How Do You Know that you are here to fix or change the world? Interesting has we had just had an 18 page online email conversation about the same topic as the nutritionist I had previously met. In fact she was on her own mission. So I asked her;

Why, you believe you are here to save humans from themselves and their piss poor eating habits right; a woman on a mission?

Then it all made sense, you see each person is on a mission in life; they have goals and dreams. I ask what is your mission in life? And what do you wish to accomplish during your life experience? I say pick a dream and go for it.

Although as you embark on this noble mission of yours, be sure to understand when you are caught up in the sound and fury and in fact assisting the on-going nature of the REAL problem. You see, it is often easy to get caught up in the game and fun also to participate in the chaos and controversy; as they say War is a Sense, which gives us purpose. But just make sure your purpose and mission is fair for all concerned including yourself of course.

My goal here is to make you think and provide you with some soul searching to see that you achieve your goal without falter and stay focused. I hope this article does indeed propel thought for you in 2007.

Monday, February 28th, 2005

You need a Cosmetic Surgery, head of to Kerala. Or visit to the Taj Mahal. Cosmetic surgery is the next big thing to come packaged with tourism in India. India promises cosmetic-surgery tourism for anything from hair implants, scalp reductions, rhinoplasty (reshaping or re-contouring of the nose), face-lift, cosmetic eyelid surgery, brow lifts, and sub-metal lipectomy for double chin, chin and cheek. Largely cost-driven and banking on international goodwill of Indian medicos, the initiative is hoping to benefit both hospitality and healthcare industry. India is tying up with hospitality industry and service providers to help these tourists improve their looks in five star comforts. This is not critical surgery, so tourists from the US, UK and Canada likes to combine it with travel. They prefer to visit cold destinations like Shimla, Manali, Mussourie after their surgery, “India offers world class Cosmetic Treatment that are comparable with the UK or US. Furthermore, the high concentration of expatriate Indian medical staff working abroad particularly in the US and UK gives patients confidence in healthcare in India.

What is Cosmetic Surgery?

Cosmetic surgery offers individuals the choice to change and improve their appearance. Cosmetic surgery should not, however, be taken lightly. It should not be trivialized and its risks should not be underrated as often occurs with pressure advertising and the media. Risks associated with cosmetic surgery are fortunately uncommon and in properly trained hands cosmetic surgical procedures are very safe. Today cosmetic surgery is common and popular and viewed positively by the community in general. Cosmetic surgery is aimed at achieving improvement, not perfection and it is very important to approach such surgery with realistic expectations. Given this, patients undergoing cosmetic surgery procedures are highly likely to be extremely satisfied with their results. The improvements derived from cosmetic procedures can be life changing. These include elevation of self-confidence and self-esteem and feelings of well-being. Some find their professional prospects are improved or maintained.

Who is a candidate for cosmetic surgery?

Thousands of facial plastic surgeries are performed each year on men, women, and children. Young children who suffer with protruding ears or a congenital deformity may seek correction at a very early age. Teens whose skeletal growth has been completed-usually around age 15 for girls and 17 for boys - may wish to refine the appearance of a large nose or to alleviate severe breathing problems. Cosmetic surgery, like any procedure, carries with it some degree of risk. Complications are rare, but they do occur. Modern procedures have greatly diminished most risks. However, these complications might be enhanced if patient have certain health conditions, such as diabetes. In order to curtail these risks, it is important that patient choose an experienced plastic surgeon that has a proven track record of success with minimal complications. The benefits of Cosmetic Surgery far outweigh the Risks!

Cost of Cosmetic Surgery:

Cosmetic surgery cost depends on the particular surgery that is being performed, its complications and also depends on specific hospitals and geographical areas and even countries. For e.g. In India Cosmetic surgery is performed at a very low cost, compared to countries like United States. Patients planning to undergo Cosmetic surgery should make sufficient inquiries to their doctor regarding the surgery, surgery procedures, risks, cost estimates and alternate treatments available etc.

Further they should choose a hospital that is known for its quality rather than just on the basis of cost alone. Also, patients should ensure that the when then estimate the cost of the surgery, they should consider the cost of the surgery, surgeon fees, other hospital expenses like stay, anesthesia cost, cost of medicines, any treatment or facility or nursing required during the recovery period etc.Insurance companies also provide coverage for Cosmetic surgery and will reimburse the cost of the surgery. Patients should confirm with their insurance providers regarding their specific insurance plans, surgery details and get the coverage information before undergoing the surgery.

Cosmetic Surgery in India:

A new horizon of the medical field cropping out in India is cosmetic surgery, which utilizes some of the state of the art techniques in corrective procedures. India has a talent pool of qualified cosmetic surgeons, a lot of whom have been trained in the US and UK, in specialized areas of cosmetic surgery. With the recent development of the healthcare infrastructure in India, the best of facilities and equipment are also available with these surgeons. “Well to Be Honest With You,” “Truthfully Now” and “To Tell You The Truth” Communication 101

Monday, February 28th, 2005

Often in communication either written or verbal we see people using phrases such as; “Well to Be Quite Honest With You” and they will use such sentences in the middle of a very long conversation, but when they do it totally raises red flags and here is why;

You see when someone is discussion people, events or concepts in a conversation, electronic email or while giving a speech you expect that person to be honest with you, because you are being honest and attentive with them. But if they say something like; “Truthfully Now” or “To Tell You The Truth” then you have to wonder if they have been fibbing all along up until that point?

If they have uttered compliments, then perhaps they were not sincere. If they are recommending a product then maybe that is horse crap too? If they were talking about another behind their back, maybe they are lying and vindictive? Maybe the story they told, they simply made up?

And when they say “TRUTHFULLY” don’t they consider or think people might assume that the rest of their conversation is BS, because NOW they say TRUTHFULLY? So, what was the rest of all their conversation about? Have they been lying? If the answer is NO, why would they use “Truthfully” it raises red flags like someone with a “chickenshet” handshake.

I would expect that people who correspond with me remain truthful with me at all times and in all their endeavors. You see I believe that dishonesty is not a very favorable human trait, although some say deception is the reason that human brains are so large. Gosh I wish that is not the case, however it just might be?

Maybe a law career might be good for them if they seem to be able to slip in and out of the honest reality so easily? After all if you are less than ethical in your conversations, you might make a decent lawyer? I hope you might consider this in your online correspondence and conversations in 2007.

Not Capitalizing Your Name in Emails is a Bad Habit

Monday, February 28th, 2005

Have you noticed that many people no longer capitalize their own name in emails? Perhaps you do this. But it is a really tragic and bad habit and the implications border a socialistic and communistic viewpoint, which is so dangerous for society. Of course this is a new trendy thing to do.

Some will say that they do it because they do not wish to appear conceited or make an excuse because it is easier to do. In fact they believe this sends a signal to others that they are approachable and not self-centered and believe everyone is equal.

Yes, I understand that. But I also think when I see people do this that it is a complete “Spit in the Face” to those who work their butts off to go beyond the norm of society. It is putting everyone on a level playing field and degrading self in order to make a statement, but the very fact that you lower yourself to make the statement is a hypocritical way of saying; Look at Me, I am Great because I am NOT Conceited.

Of course this is also saying that someone who does capitalize their name is conceited. Well that is absolute Horse Manure. So, capitalize your name if you are worthy and if you are worthless then don’t. By the way if you are worthless, why should I waste my time talking to someone who believes they are of no value?

This whole issue of degrading self is absolute socialism conditioning and if you do it long enough you will actually believe it. If you believe you are unworthy, then you are right. And if not then forge ahead and do not fear what other might think of you if you are winner.

Not capitalizing your name is like you are saying “so what” to the individual and I am saying to that comment; I do not care what you think about the individual, I still value the individual and the whole, but the statement you are making by not capitalizing your own name well it is so socialistic and communistic. To say that the Individual does not matter; Because the individual DOES MATTER.

Capitalize your name always unless you are instant messaging and the rest of your message is all lower-case too. Raise the bar if you want to go far. Believe in your self and capitalize your name. My Gosh what would your parents think? I hope this article propels thought in 2007.

Have You Seen Your Parent Today-Campaign Urgent Call to All Media & School Personnel to Educate Kids

Monday, February 28th, 2005

Barbara Rose, Ph.D. awoke from a dream with a strong message to create a national awareness and educational campaign for all media and school personnel geared towards children and teens to educate them about how to come forward if they have been missing or kidnapped.

The name of this campaign is, “Have You Seen Your Parent Today?” When asked about the particulars of what this campaign would entail, Rose said, “I feel that this can be as powerful as the current ‘Say No to Drugs’ campaigns in schools, and I am positive it can reunite missing or kidnapped children with their natural parents. In a nutshell, students of all ages can receive information with simple facts about other missing children.”

Example:

Have You Seen Your Parent Today?

• Have you ever been told that either of your parents is dead?

• Have you not seen or spoken to one of your parents for more than a week?

• Were you ever threatened that if you tell anyone about your situation that you or your family would be killed?

• Have you been prevented from using a telephone?

• Have you been prevented from speaking to any of your relatives?

• Do you feel afraid that if you say something you will be hurt?

• Have you been kept away from your family and old friends?

• Have you been isolated, and forced to be alone?

• Do you ever miss your Mom or Dad, but are not sure what to do?

THERE IS HELP FOR YOU!

If any of the above applies to you, please go to the school office immediately, and let the Principal know. If you are not in school, please call 911, or tell your neighbor. You will be safe and protected!

When asked about her experience in creating this, Rose said, “I have personally spoken with parents when I was involved with child legislation whose children were missing. Many of them were kidnapped by the other parent. Additionally, I have heard far too many stories of children and teens who have been kidnapped, threatened, and are afraid to come forward to be reunited with their natural parents.”

“Children are scared when they are threatened,” she continued. “Many who are told that their parents are dead or are threatened with being killed if they “tell anyone” do not currently have a safe and trusted support system to turn to. They are not aware because this is not currently taught in schools, along with being spread all over the internet, Public Service Announcements on TV, Radio, magazines where the child can call 911, tell a neighbor, however they can go from being missing to being found.”

“There must be an educational awareness campaign about this geared towards all children at an age appropriate level. I am simply asking all media and school personnel as well as anyone who is interested in spreading this to spread this campaign in their own way so it reaches all minor children,” Rose explained.

When asked if she ever experienced anything like this, Rose replied, “Unfortunately, I have. Over a decade ago during an unwarranted child custody suit, my former husband literally disappeared with my children for over a week. I was searching with police non-stop and felt more emotional agony than I can describe. Then during the custody situation, he used to un-plug my children’s telephone line so they would not have contact with me. At that time my six year old son was emotionally devastated. Years later he told me when he asked, “Where’s my Mommy?” he was not given an answer, and he used to cry himself to sleep.
But my story pales in comparison to other parents whose children have been missing and they have not seen or spoken to them.”

“I recently heard of a story of a boy who was kidnapped and just found. He was told his mother was dead, along with being threatened that if he told anyone about his situation, he would be killed. My heart just broke for that boy and his parents. It was during my sleep, that I had a strong dream that was more like a message, to create ‘Have You Seen Your Parent Today?’ and make it a national, free campaign to educate children and teens about how they can come forward and be safe,” Rose said.

Rose added, “What matters to me most is that children are reunited with their parents if they have been kidnapped, are told either of their parents is dead, or are prevented from having loving contact with their parent. It’s all about helping the children, and I feel this can solve a lot of missing children mysteries, and end the torturous heartache the parents of those children go through. I just want to help make a difference. Even if just one child is reunited with his or her parents, that in and of itself would feel like a miracle to me.”

When asked how this campaign would ideally be implemented, Rose stated, “I believe if this is taught as a course in all schools, each year at every grade level, the children and teens will feel empowered to know that coming forward will actually save their life.”

Rose asks for the support of all media and school personnel to create this awareness campaign to educate children and teens in case they are ever kidnapped or kept away from their parent against their will so they will know exactly what to do in order to be reunited with their parents.

Socialism Rocks until It Hits Rock Bottom

Monday, February 28th, 2005

The promises of socialism are indeed fun to watch and yet each time we see a leader proclaim such promises we know what follows; economic depletion of the nations treasury and productivity? It does not matter if it is France or Venezuela; how many examples to politicians or their citizenry need to see that failure cometh to socialism leaning nations.

Socialism is like a flat spin in an aircraft for which there is little chance for recovery without a huge correction from a top notched pilot and a little luck on top of that, provided you have enough time and altitude? Yes, that is about what it is like and I enjoyed giving that speech recently to members of our Online Think Tank.

Now then let me tell you of a troubling trend in our youth and young college students these days? They have been socially indoctrinated and conditioned to believe everyone is equal in everyway. And this has even filtered into their online email communication, as they often do not capitalize their name because they do not want people to think that they are conceited, self-absorbed or arrogant?

Well this is actually a statement to others that they are not worthy of capitalizing their own name and that the individual is not of any value either. For those who do this, well you may as well be the spectator person who spit on Lance Armstrong in the Tour de France with that so-called subtle statement.

You know although this is only a small little issue I take with the socialist movement in the United States, it is one more sign of what is happening to our youth and it is a dangerous thing for our nation. Perhaps you might consider this thought and maybe it will help propel intelligent thinking in 2007.

Email and Instant Messaging; Capitalizing Your Own Name

Monday, February 28th, 2005

There is a strong trend in online correspondence to not capitalize ones own name. Typically this is done all the time in Instant Messaging because generally folks do not capitalize anything or because it just takes too long. So be it. But when it comes to online email correspondence if you capitalize your message as properly punctuated then you should capitalize your name too.

Many people these days mostly college kids, and youth are not capitalizing their own names as to not appear conceited or arrogant? But in doing this with adults they are sending a message that they are unimportant, a push over or they the individual is not important; including themselves and others.

When people do this in their online correspondence, it is very detracting, ugly and mean spirited. In fact it is really a socialistic comment and a statement of condemnation against the individual. I am completely offended. But, even if you do this, well I still value you and your ideas, thoughts and concepts, even if you are saying in a way you do not value me? Interesting.

So, perhaps this allows you some incite into what others might think. It may be considered socialism 101 academia social network etiquette but is completely sends the wrong message everywhere else. Weakness is no to me admired or desired. Much of the real world works on “Survival of the Fittest” and personally I would rather associate with strength, conviction, intent and people with strength of character, dedication and perseverance.

I assume YOU are all that and more. Did I make a mistake in my assessment? I don’t Thiiiink Soooo! Therefore be wise and capitalize. I hope this article makes perfect sense and propels thought in 2007.

How To Deal With Written Complaints In Business

Monday, February 28th, 2005

Organization should have a good “complaints policy” to recover its customer’s confidence. It should accept complaints from customers as gift and should be processed effectively and immediately. With effective processing of complaint, a negative situation can be turned into positive one.

Customer complaint could be a verbal or a written complaint. In case of written complaint, organization should have a policy that employee should send a prompt reply within two days and satisfactory reply within two weeks of receiving the complaint from the customer.

When you receive a written compliant, you should send a personal letter to the customer, containing points such as thank you for the complaint, the customer is important to you and your business or organization, why the complain is appreciated, an apology, assurance of satisfactory action and a time frame by which customer will get suitable or satisfactory reply.

Your reply should look like a personal letter to customer, so avoid standard letters.

Write a letter, which is easy to read and understand, avoiding excessive use of technical terms & terminologies.

A prompt reply can help you to gain customer’s confidence and trust to some extent. However, if you want customer to remain with the organization and should not shift to your competitor brands, you should send a satisfactory reply within two weeks.

Agree with the customer & admit that he is right. Avoid use of sentences such as, we rarely receive such kind of complaints or you have started using the product without reading the instructions.

Always proofread your letters before sending it. You can use business writing software program with text enrichment feature for proofreading. Text enrichment enhances the simple sentence into more professional and sophisticated one

Try to exceed customer’s expectations. A complaining customer can become a loyal customer with better than expected treatment. So, try to give the customer a bit more than his expectation or demand, if reasonable. However, if customer demands and expectations are unreasonable, refuse them, but without showing any anger or bitterness.

Follow up with your customers to make sure that he is satisfied.

Why You Should Capitalize Your Name in Emails

Monday, February 28th, 2005

Have you noticed the hurtful and self-demeaning new trend with teens and college students in their emails? Many of these students are not capitalizing their name; they purposefully leave them in lower case. Often if you ask them they will say that they do this either to save time or because they do not wish anyone to think that they are arrogant?

Recently, I had a conversation with an individual who in their own right had accomplished a lot in life and when I asked them why they did not capitalize their name, they wrote both of those excuses back as their answer?

Well I would like to say to them and to you if you are in the habit of not capitalizing your own name in your emails and that is; Your argument that you type your name in lower case to save time well that does not fly really because of the fact that you capitalized every other letter in the rest of your email so do not give me that lame excuse, come on you are talking someone who runs an Online Think Tank.

There is no excuse for not capitalizing your own name. If you do not feel you are of value then why should I? And why should I care what you think, what you have to say or bother to even read your email in that case? And if you do not value yourself, then obviously you do not value “me” or anyone else, in that case, I ask who is the better person? You should value every individual if they are worthy.

So if you are going to attempt to take moral high ground in your emails then let them people know your thoughts, argument, dreams, goals and beliefs count for something; that you have well-thought out ideas and stand by them with conviction by capitalizing your name, if not you are telling me that everything I just read was written by a low-self-esteem person. See my point. It raises read flags with me. I hope you understand how important this fact is and that it sticks in your thoughts in 2007.
